Interactive Site Timeline

Umm el-Jimal existed within the wider fabric of its regional context. Despite its rural nature and location on the fringe of empires, evidence suggests Umm el-Jimal was a prosperous town for several centuries before its eventual decline and abandonment sometime during the Abbasid dynasty. This timeline situates Umm el-Jimal and its unique history within the broader flow of regional events.
